A classic and expressive Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Château Palais Cardinal 2016 is a standout vintage that combines richness, structure, and refined elegance. Produced on gravelly-sandy soils in the southern part of the appellation, it is crafted from a traditional Right Bank blend dominated by Merlot, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color. The nose is intense and aromatic, revealing layers of ripe black fruits—blackberry, cassis, and plum—alongside notes of incense, cedar, and subtle spice from oak aging. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet balanced, with a supple, silky texture. Flavors of dark berries and ripe cherry are supported by fine tannins and well-judged acidity, giving structure without harshness. Hints of tobacco, graphite, and gentle toast add complexity, leading to a long, smooth finish.
