A refined and expressive second wine from the prestigious Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Le Petit 2021 delivers impressive precision and elegance for its level. Produced under the same meticulous organic and biodynamic philosophy as the Grand Vin, it is crafted mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, reflecting the classic structure of Pessac-Léognan.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with purple reflections. The nose is complex and finely detailed, offering aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and red cherry, layered with violet, graphite, and subtle spice, along with hints of dark chocolate and tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, fresh, and beautifully balanced. Silky tannins support a core of pure dark fruit, while notes of licorice, cocoa, and crushed stone add depth and character. The texture is refined and linear, with a mineral-driven finish that brings length and elegance.
The 2021 vintage shows classic Bordeaux restraint with vibrant acidity and a focused style, making it enjoyable in its youth after short decanting, while also offering several years of aging potential.
